As The World Turns...

By now, much of the Western world has been caught up with the crisis unfolding in Europe, extremism and the consequences of immigration policies playing out  in France. I don't purport to know how to realistically deal with the problem of religious fanaticism that's facing Europe. It seems like a deeply entrenched problem with roots in the social, cultural and religious undertaking of a minority group.

One thing that gave me hope was the large crowds singing (in unison) John Lennon's "Imagine" in the March of Unity:

I had mentioned in my last post on Lynxsy, the community that matches recent graduates with start-ups. They accepted my application! I even received one job alert already. How it works is this: once the folks at Lynxsy accepts your application, you're sent job alerts based on your preferences and you can pass or accept. By accepting the alert, your resume is sent to the hiring manager over at the particular start-up and depending on whether your qualifications meet the specific criteria, you may get an interview. Nearly 100 recent grads were matched with the start-ups.

I've also decided to quit that soul-sucking, mind-numbing freelance gig and found another, better gig. I think the last straw was when I couldn't finish the assignment on time and I was penalized like $20 of my hard-earned money. Things happen for a reason, and this gig is marginally better than the last one.

Things are looking on the up and up. So my schedule looks something like this: During the week, I'll work on the freelancing gig, and on the weekends work on my coding and check on the job postings on the poli-sci listserv. There are some interesting openings that definitely piqued my interest. I still want to create a website geared towards Hilary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren as part of my own project and things are looking good. I'm busy and am pretty excited that I can actually "create" stuff and websites. Till next time.
